Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 8, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Al-Dua ("we," "our," or "us") handles information in connection with the Al-Dua mobile application (the "App"). The App provides the text of the Holy Qur'an together with translations and related reading features for personal, educational, and devotional use.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. The App is designed to work with the minimum amount of personal data necessary, and most of your activity (such as your reading position, bookmarks, and settings) stays on your device. By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We aim to collect as little information as possible. Depending on how you use the App, this may include:
- Information you provide directly: If you contact us for support or send feedback, we receive your email address and the contents of your message so we can respond.
- Usage & analytics data: Anonymous or aggregated information about how the App is used — for example, features opened, screens viewed, session length, and app version — collected through analytics tools to help us improve the App.
- Device & technical information: Information such as device model, operating system version, language settings, and a non-identifying device or installation identifier.
- Crash & diagnostic data: If the App crashes, we may receive diagnostic reports (such as the type of error and device state) to help us fix problems.
- Data stored on your device: Your bookmarks, last-read position, chosen translation, font size, theme, and other preferences are saved locally on your device and are not transmitted to us.
We do not ask for, collect, or store sensitive information such as your name, physical address, payment card numbers, government ID numbers, or precise location, and we do not build profiles based on your religious beliefs.
3. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features;
- Understand how the App is used so we can improve content, performance, and usability;
- Diagnose technical problems, fix bugs, and improve stability;
- Respond to your support requests and feedback;
- Comply with legal obligations and protect against misuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your information to identify you personally beyond what is needed to provide and improve the App.
4. Permissions the App May Request
To work properly, the App may request certain device permissions. You can grant or revoke these at any time in your device settings. Typical permissions include:
- Internet / Network access: To download Qur'an text, translations, audio recitations, and updates.
- Storage: To save downloaded translations or audio for offline reading and listening.
- Notifications (optional): If you enable them, to send reading reminders or update notices. You can turn these off at any time.
The App does not require access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or precise location to function.
5. Third-Party Services
The App may use trusted third-party services that process limited data on our behalf, such as analytics, crash reporting, and (if applicable) advertising. These may include services like Google Firebase / Google Analytics, and Google AdMob where ads are shown. These providers may collect device identifiers and usage data in accordance with their own privacy policies:
If the App displays advertisements, advertising partners may use device identifiers to deliver and measure ads. You can usually reset your advertising identifier or opt out of personalized ads in your device settings.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent your information. We may share limited information only:
- With service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g., analytics, crash reporting), under appropriate confidentiality obligations;
- When required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request;
- To protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or our service.
7. Data Retention
Analytics and diagnostic data are retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this policy, after which they are deleted or anonymized. Preferences and reading data stored on your device remain until you delete them or uninstall the App. Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to address your request.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is suitable for a general audience and is not directed at collecting personal information from children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because the App collects minimal data, you can exercise most of these rights directly by adjusting your device settings, clearing app data, or uninstalling the App.
11. International Users
The App may be used worldwide. Where information is processed by our third-party service providers, it may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. By using the App, you consent to such processing in accordance with this policy and applicable law.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and post the updated version at this URL. Significant changes may also be announced within the App. Your continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
This Privacy Policy applies solely to the Al-Dua mobile application and not to any other website or service.
